Arriving at San Carlos to clear
immigration, and to register for the Tournament, note that the water
level was a good 3 feet lower than our last visit here, even though
this is the height of the rainy season!

We then
continued down the Rio San Juan to the beautiful town
El Castillo where we were lodged. The Spanish Fort had now been
renovated since we were last here.

Day 1 of the Fishing Competition "Torneo
International de Pesca del Sabalo Real - "Richard
Lugo Kautz" We fished the confluences of the Santa Cruz and Pocosol with the intent of catching Snook. I failed to catch any Snook over 3lb, but did get a cute Guavina |

Day 2 of the competition we trolled
for Tarpon above the rapids at El Castillo, we hooked and fought
several Tarpon, some for over half-an-hour but failed to get any to
the boat. I did however manage to get a 12lb Snook which we weighed
in at El Castillo. My Snook earned me 2nd Place!!

Sunday,
we stayed in San Carlos and went fishing in
Lake Nicaragua. - more astonishing beautiful scenery, this part
of Southern Nicaragua is just so so pretty! we caught good numbers
of various Cichlids and Guapote (Rainbow Bass)

| We returned to Los Chiles, bade farewell to the Victoria Posse and went fishing for Tarpon in the Lagoons of the Cano Negro. Several Tarpon were hooked, two to the boat (small ones - about 60lbs), including, eventually, one for me! Angling does reward perseverance!! |
